The following are comments from participant evaluations pertaining five main areas of the classroom presentation.

 

    The most important things I learned from this course were:

 

  •       Knowledge on SIDS

  •    Kangaroo Care

  •    Helping mom out and accident prevention

  •    Don’t sleep with baby

      The part I liked best was:

  •       Burping lesson and good tips on hiccups as well.

  •       Good instructor – made it interesting and humorous.

  •       How to hold and burp the baby, I was scared that I would break the baby.

  •       Signs of healthy baby – gives me easy signs to look for.

  •       How to feed baby – I knew nothing before today.

  •       Being able to see a very good example of bathing your baby.

  •       Explanation of the different cries of the baby and how to interpret them.

  •       Techniques for bonding with the child.

  •       How to clean the baby.

  •       The class was a bit basic; I was worried it would focus on how to care for the mother.  I already know this – I needed baby skills

3.    The part I liked least was:

 

  •             There is a lot of work ahead.

  •       Bath time – not as interesting.

  •       Every part of this course was very helpful.  Coming in, I had no clue about anything having to do with babies.

  •       So much too learn – so little time.

  •       No information for cats, when you bring the baby home.

  •       Breastfeeding – we chose not to breastfeed.

  •       Everything was of good use to me.  All information was taken down by notes.

  •       None really.

  •       Nothing.

  •       There was not any part of the class I did not like.  This was the most helpful class I have taken for me to understand the part I can play in my baby’s life.

  •       A little quick on the dressing part.

  •       Honestly, every part of the class had value for a novice dad.  But if I have to choose, the swaddling demonstration, because I had already learned it in Lamaze class.

  •       Nothing – no, really.

  •       Someone bringing in a real baby.

  •       Nothing that I can think of, I really enjoyed the class.

  •       A tour of the hospital or how to check-in where to arrive.

  •       Everything was fine.

  •       This information should be given to the mothers too, just like it was given to us.  Mothers should know we are different too.

  •       If a new father and baby would have shown up.
